We will provide you with an event cake that not only looks great, it needs to taste great too. Your cake won't be one of the many out there that look good but are disappointing once they have been cut. Our cakes are moist and flavoursome.

Cakes are priced primarily on the amount of time that it takes to turn your ideas into reality. Some ideas take longer or shorter than others and will be reflected in the cost that we quote. This makes it a little hard to predict the cost for any cake idea that you may have - sometimes the simplest things take lots of time and the apparently difficult are a breeze for us to do. We have made placing an order pretty simple. A growing number of cakes are available in our online store with real time availability. Or just give us a call or send us an email (contact us) and we can start the ball rolling. In most cases we can do everything online, over the phone or by email. Payment is done over the internet too, so all very easy.

As time has the biggest impact on cost, if you would like a cake on a smaller budget then consider whether there are elements you don’t want that could be removed or made simpler. Alternatively if budget is not such a concern think about adding things to make your cake have a more dramatic look. Might not cost as much as you think. Why not save a bit of money and serve your cake as dessert at your function therefore killing two birds with one stone.

All cakes priced $200 or less, or are ordered within a month of the cake due date, are payable in full at the time of booking. This enables us to keep our administration costs down and our prices lower at this level of purchase.

For purchases where the due date is more than a month away and the price is greater than $200 then a 50% deposit will be requested to secure the booking and the the balance requested approximately a week prior to your cake being due (unless your cake is a design that requires longer to prepare).

We appreciate that circumstances sometimes change and that cancellations are required. We try and be as accommodating as possible but please remember that once an order has been placed we make a commitment to have your cake ready when requested and that includes not accepting any other orders for your cake slot and incurring other costs. Our cancellation terms are as follows:

CANCELLATIONS OR ALTERATION OF CAKE DUE DATE

More than 1 month away from cake due date: Loss of 50% deposit payment unless cake is transferred to an alternative available date. Orders made online and paid in full will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. The balance will be refunded subject to a $15 admin fee.

Less than 1 month but more than 1 week from due date: Loss of 50% deposit payment. Balance paid (if any) can be used as a credit towards another order. Orders made online and paid in full will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee with balance given as a credit towards another purchase.

Less than 1 week from cake due date: 100% loss of payments made. Any cake items made to date will be available for collection or delivery if practical.

Change in size If you request a reduction in your cake size prior to your cake due date we will do this subject to availability. A reduction of just one size e.g. from 9" to 8" will be refunded (subject to a $15 admin fee). Reductions larger than one size difference will be offered as a credit note towards a future purchase. Increases in size are subject to additional cost and availability at the time of request.

Cancelllation of Delivery: Refunded in full if advised 48 hours prior to delivery time.

Coronavirus 2020 In the event that Australian State or Federal Governments order a total restriction to the movement of people Sydney-wide (for dates that cover your event) we will happily swap any payment for a credit to be used within 6 months of the credit being provided or requested (if your cake has not already been started). This offer does not extend to any decisions made by other commercial companies / Institutions (either Australian or overseas) or personal decisions which may impact on your event. In these circumstances we recommend that you contact any personal Insurances that you may have which cover event cancellations and we will be more than happy to provide them with any information that they request.

Update - 6th April 2020. Orders placed after this date are made with a full understanding of the current circumstances around the COVID-19 virus. If Tanner & Gates are required to cancel an order on you then you will receive a refund or credit as agreed unless your cake has been started. In the event that you decide to no longer go ahead with your order then our standard cancellation policies will apply.

Update: July 2020. Whilst NSW remains open in the main there is the risk that events may change that situation. As the threat of COVID-19 restrictions is known our policy on last minute cancellations is a follows;

1) Cancellations with at least 14 complete working days notice (Mon - Fri) due to a change in restrictions on the movement or number of people allowed to gather as a result of State or Federal direction will be entitled to a 95% credit.

2) Cancellations with less than 6 full working days notice will not be entitled to a refund or credit.

If you want to guarantee our availability for a particular date it is best to book as soon as possible. If you can give 2 - 3 weeks notice then availability is never usually a problem apart from in the peak season. Our cakes remain fresh for at least 3 days from the collection/delivery date, if stored correctly, so think about getting your cake early if your preferred date is not available. This often makes sense anyway if you have a busy event to plan - one less thing to worry about on the day !

Need a cake in a hurry ?
We can often work to a minimum of 2-3 days notice for most designs subject to availability. Depending on your exact requirements we may need to adjust your ideas slightly with the shorter timescale involved.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE GIVE NO GUARANTEE TO SUPPLY A CAKE ON A PARTICULAR DATE UNTIL A DESIGN AGREEMENT IS IN PLACE AND A PAYMENT MADE.
