gaycakes.com.au is owned and run by me, Dean.
Like lots of us, I was influenced early on by my Gran’s cooking and in particular her cakes. Winter ‘picnics’ with tea and scones in front of the gas fire on a Sunday afternoon was always something my brothers and I just loved doing.
From being only one of two boys in my domestic science class, working with food was always where I was heading. With gaycakes.com.au I have finally found something that combines three loves in my life — cakes, design and the internet.
There are lots of great cake companies out there but I felt that there wasn’t really one that captured the way in which we celebrate, or that might be prepared to illustrate some of the colourful ways in which we have decided to live.
I think that a lot of us strive to be a little different in our approach when we can. Ultimately whether we want way-out or traditional, I think the most important thing is that you are comfortable with who you are dealing with and able to express what you really want in the cake that they deliver.
